Blue Zone FW & Healthy Living

Starting fresh with the blog made me think about the amazing Blue Zone Project which has come to Fort Worth.  I am very excited by all of the tips and events that they have already brought to the city. As I have been grocery shopping or out around town, I have seen this little logo on certain foods or restaurants that do help encourage better food and lifestyle choices.

Recently, due to a lot of factors (aging, stress, health issues), I have fallen of the workout/health wagon a bit. I have instantly seen the negative results of it. I have gained 10 lbs in the course of just a few weeks due to a recent surgery. I have just been cleared this week to get back to the gym and working out. I am very excited! I will be 30 in a few months and the thought of spending the last of my 20s in a body I am not satisfied with is my main motivation. But, even aside from the superficial, I have felt the changes and have noticed how much weaker I have felt in the times since I stopped working out (surgery aside). Feeling good and healthy is my main goal. The physical changes are just an added plus.

I want to encourage all of my fellow Fort Worthians to be inspired by the Blue Zone Project to make better choices in our lives. It doesn't have to be anything radical if you don't want it to be. Find what works best for you. We live in an AMAZING city! Don't you want to add a few more years so you can stick around and enjoy it?

I will post updates as things change and will be using "My Fitness Pal" to help log my progress (I've heard great things about fitness trackers, i.e. fitbit, but I don't have one at the moment). Keep in mind each person is different and my measurements are to keep myself accountable to myself and you. I am a small/short/petite person at 5'3".

Current stats:
weight: 120.2 lbs
fat %: 16.5
waist: 28"

Let's get healthy, FW!
